Hamilton is back in business!
After 411 long days of the shops being closed, on May 3rd we welcomed you back to Quilt Town, USA! We couldn’t be happier, we’ve missed seeing all of your bright faces in person.

read moreOh Good Morning Friends. I have a coffee story for you, but first it’s a Quilt & Tell Podcast kind of day. The other day Tracy posted this on her Instagram page, and includes an email address to let Golden Peak Media know in part what we love about Quilt & Tell but also that… Continue reading A Coffee Story
read moreI’m not as good about going thru my shop e-mails as I was when we were open every day. I’m not sure why, but I’m guessing it’s because I don’t go downstairs every day to piddle around in the shop. I haven’t decided whether that’s because I’ve gotten lazy in my old age, or because I have the distraction of Rick still working from home. It’s probably more of the latter since I tend to stay upstairs where he is and actually stop to eat lunch when he’s here, neither ...

Last week I dropped something off with a friend here locally as I left her house on my next errand a small rock kicked up and hit the windshield causing a star right… Continue reading Okay, so here’s what Happened and Then
read more Happy Monday. Superbowl was a bit of a blow out and this year was the first we didn't have an all out party. I don't feel like I missed a thing.
I got happy mail last week!
Now I know last week I said that it was a crazy week, well I lied to you all because THIS week is actually crazy! Holidays are near and we couldn’t be more excited to start on new projects for 2021. This week is going to be the last full week here before the year ends, so we are working together to bring you as much inspiration as we can. This brings me to today, where we have Katarina Roccella’s latest collection, Aquarelle! Seeing all the makers submit their projects got me excited for this lookbook, and of ...
This past August, I traveled to visit family in Northeast Ohio and while there, I stopped in to visit a lovely shop, The Liberty Green Quilt Shop, located in Akron, Ohio. I’ve been Facebook friends with the owner, Joyce Hillick Ely, for a very long time and I’ve enjoyed seeing all she and her sweet daughter, Sarah, have accomplished over the past ten years. Simply put, they are the heart and soul of the shop! It was such a privilege to meet Joyce and see the beautiful store. Sadly, Sarah was not at the shop the day I ...
read moreMy Sweetie asked me a question, “when are you going to open your own quilt shop?” I’m not. But this got me to dreaming. Dreaming is good, it leads us to innovation, solutions, realizations. Having worked in a couple of quilt shops, traveled to so many over the years, attending Quilt Market, and all I’ve… Continue reading Dreaming as Creativity

read moreThis past weekend my local quilt guild, the South Bay Quilt Guild, held it’s annual quilt show at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center in Torrance, CA. It was a great show! Lots of beautiful quilts, a quilt auction, featured artist, vendors and challenge quilts were on display. I thought you might like to see a few photos. The members worked so hard to make this a fabulous event and their hard work and efforts certainly paid off!
The show was well attended by many from the local community. Both days (Saturday and Sunday) saw big crowds which, of course ...

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I hosted the kit cutting party here at my house? (If you missed it, you can read about it by CLICKING HERE.) My friend, Melanie was there and I was asking about local quilt shops in ...
read moreOur girl's been in Oklahoma for 18 months and although I've been there a couple of times, her Daddy never has. She makes the trip home quite a bit (we'll take her and our boy anytime we can get them) and it hasn't been long since her last visit. This last weekend we remedied that with a little road trip that allowed us time to catch up on podcasts: On a 7 hour trip, we pass through 2 decent

“Primitive,” also known as “Early Americana” style, emerged from within the first colonies here in the “New World.” Once the colonists were finally settled in, they had a bit more time get creative with everyday necessities such as clothing, furniture, and children’s toys.
While sewing up clothes for their children and fulfilling the duty of “homemaker,” women started to enhance their making skills with decorative stitching and design, steering away from trends in Europe and creating the first American style.
Today, folk artists use modern elements to create an antiquated look. At Missouri Star Quilt Co., we have a ...
